COURSE STRUCTURE

The qualification comprises of 20 units; 10 in total must be completed to achieve this NVQ (4 mandatory and 6 optional units comprising one unit from each of the 4 optional groups and a further two optional units from any of the optional groups).

Mandatory Units 
  • Develop, maintain and evaluate systems and structures to promote the rights, responsibilities and diversity of people CA03.

  • Manage a service, which meets the best possible outcomes for the individual RM1.

  • Manage the use of financial resources B3.

  • Manage the performance of teams and individuals C13.

Group 1 Manage Activities  
  • Manage activities to meet requirements A2

  • Contribute to improvements at work A4

  • Develop programmes,  projects and plans SNH4U1

  • Contribute to the provision of effective physical, social and emotional environments for group care CASC20.

  • Ensure individuals and groups are supported appropriately when experiencing significant life events and transitions RM2.

  • Promote the interests of client groups in the community NH4U4.

Group 2 Manage People and other Resources   
  • Take responsibility for your business performance and the continuing development of self and others RG6.

  • Develop teams and individuals to enhance performance environment C10.

  • Select personnel for activities C8.

  • Develop and sustain arrangements for joint working between workers and agencies CASC15.

  • Develop your plans for the business BD A2.
Group 3 Manage Information    
  • Provide information to support decision making D4

  • Facilitate meetings D2
Group 4 Manage Quality
  • Manage continuous quality improvement F3

  • Monitor compliance with quality systems F6
Entry Requirements
  • Sufficient occupational competence

  • Current working knowledge

  • Managerial or supervisory role
  Assessment 

The results are assessed by:

  • Portfolio building

  • External assessment
 
Progression 

Professional training such as Social Work, Nursing or Occupational Therapy is a possible progression route. An individual's choice will depend on their job role. Examples include financial control, leadership and management of staff, performance management of staff, designing and implementing policies and procedures to fulfill legal requirements and good practice, such as Health & Safety and procurement and management of safe handling of drugs and quality assurance.
